Section IX of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
The ASME IX section pertains to the qualification of welders, brazers and operating procedures used in welding components which fall under the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and also relates to the ASME B31 Code for Pressure Piping. Section IX of the code sets out the criteria for brazing and welding, with respect to procedure and performance. The practical intention of the ASME IX code is to ensure that the welding procedure and resulting weld comply with the guidelines for construction and are capable of withstanding the environment they are intended for, without compromise to material or construction integrity.
